Theresa May is handed her P45

Why am I not surprised that the TSR staff think the most important thing that happened was a stunt by a serial prankster and not, you know, the speech itself?
Tbh (and this is coming from someone who was actually in the hall) the guy struck me as the typical social detritus that is attracted to the corbynite cause, actual scum, I wish the police would've arrested his mates from the peoples' assembly for disruption of the peace regarding the trams as well. Get the great unwashed behind bars where they belong.

All things considered I thought it was a good speech from May, the disastrous aspects were out of her control but she handled them well, the humour regarding the P45 and the cough sweet would've dispelled a few calls of "Maybot" I imagine too.
Typical TSR being political bias and not focusing on the content.

I was also at conference and in the hall as it happened and it was utterly disgusting (Cough)

The speech itself was full of soft left nonsense and shows how the conservatives gave up (cough) on actually being conservative a long time ago

You want some throat sweets, you seem to have a nasty cough.

A protester handed Theresa May a P45 form while she was delivering a speech at the Conservative Party conference.

You can watch the video here.

What do you make of this? Do you think this was a good protest? Do you think she handled it well?

It was just a prank

I would not have thought you to be in favour of nationalising corpses and proving dedication to the free market through price controls.

What bias? The P45 form (rather than the speech's content) is what's making news, so why shouldn't it be discussed?

Largely because there was little that was new or substantive in the speech.

Jut basically 'Election great but also really disappointing, free markets good but not that good, Corbyn bad - like really bad, Brexit good, and energy price caps good!'

Which bit should people be focusing on? It was just the same stuff she's been saying for months.

He's not a "protester", he's simply a disruptive ********. There's no point to what he did other than to slightly embarass the PM.

What he did is little better than just shouting down someone and preventing them from speaking. Everyone has a right to speak.

Agreed. I think they should have knocked his teeth out and then claimed he "fell down the stairs". Commie ****-head. And I say that as a socialist.

Seriously, why isn't he at work? Doesn't he have a life? He's a self-satisfied douchenozzle.

I agree. The op-ed from the Guardian claiming it was a terrible speech was based entirely on superficial considerations and things outside her control, rather than substance.

Unfortunately since the election there has been a disgusting mob mentality with people attacking the PM because they perceive her as week (because the Tories lost seats). These people are usually not very bright or well-informed because they aren't aware that in vote totals, May scored the best Tory result in 25 years and millions more votes than Cameron got in 2015

Respect is earned not given.

A trite and idiotic saying; the only people I ever hear saying it are people with a massively inflated sense of their own importance and who often have a peremptory and bullying manner about them.

Everyone should render other people some basic respect, particularly to those people who are the embodiment of our democracy such as PM, Opposition Leader, etc.

He wasn't a Corbynite, nor is there any evidence he's particularly left wing. He's a prankster who's done similar at Glastonbury and even at a Fifa meeting.

You may think his actions were unfunny or inappropriate, but he wasn't a 'Corbynite' as much as you like to portray anyone you dislike as one. The police had no grounds to arrest him or his mates, given they had been granted permission to go to the conference.

The main interest in this story is how close he could get to the PM without being intercepted. He clearly faked his way into the conference, but that points quite a finger at their security. Perhaps if he'd been a brown man, he would have been wrestled to the floor sooner, or with a beard.

He was at work. The person is a well-known prankster who has pulled off similar stunts at Glastonbury and Fifa.

So we can't criticise May now? I'm sorry but any speech which a leader gives that is dominated by a severe coughing fit to the point they can't get their words out, is not going to go down well. It was excruciating to watch. Yes it's not her fault, but she needed a big speech and instead what will dominate is the coughing.

The substance of the speech wasn't great either. Nothing new or original. Nothing exciting.

He bought a ticket to the conference and arrived early to get a front row seat.

God forbid a pleb give the PM a piece of paper. Philip Hammond gave her a cough sweet without being shot by a sniper after all.

I wont be respecting someone just due to their status no. That includes the PM. I don't respect a lot of what May is choosing do with her privileged and powerful role as an MP and now PM.

I seem to remember a total lack of basic respect for the leader of the opposition from a certain poster.

You aren't exactly the most polite member on here lol.

You are going for that " all anti left rhetoric is anti poor rhetoric" false dichotomy.

What say you to the facts released today showing that 77% of the Labour Party membership is ABC1 class?
