I am someone who is highly academic and appear to be the exception in my college. I don't find anyone in my college interesting or really feel like I want to connect with anyone there. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people, but it doesn't feel like I'm able to have any sort of long, interesting conversations with anyone and my town has almost no opportunities for people with similar interests to connect. This, combined with the fact that less than half of the people in my town even have 5 GCSEs makes the idea of meeting like-minded people seem impossible. Any suggestions about how to connect with people like me in my local area when there are no events?
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

Save all the academic socializing for when you make it into Oxbridge. Don't try and socialise with the wrong sort of people that won't really "connect" with you. But remember that friends won't ever get you anywhere. Don't care too much about friends, just do what you need to do in order to reach the top and then you can do whatever you feel like doing.
