English language requirements for Economics

I'm predicted A*AA and looking to do economics at university. Both Warwick and Bristol say they require a B in English lang to study economics. I meet both of the Uni's A level requirements, but Is it still worth applying?

I'm honestly not sure. Do you have legitimate reasons (i.e. something similar to extenuating circumstances) for not achieving this?
