The ads are intrusive in the extreme. If you're relying on this level of extreme advertisements then you're business model needs to be reworked.

Please give me an example, all the ads I get on this site are to do with open days and stuff that this site is about.

(Not my business model but I have not seen any extremely intrusive adverts.)

I can only comment on the basis of what I have seen on this site really.
Same, man.
I'll just leave this https://adblockplus.org/elemhidehelper here

I buy things on Amazon and when I buy things Amazon makes money, sure they advertise a small number of things tailored to my liking, but the product is what I buy not the advert.

I guess but sometimes I feel the adverts can be quite useful if you are still interested in similar products and stuff.

Just by disabling the ads does not mean suddenly that Amazon and other organisations do not know anything about you, your privacy is still as insecure as before. The only real way you will be less private would be if people would use your device or people would be around you when the adverts are shown.

We have nothing to do with this decision and for what it's worth the majority of us are just as annoyed (if not more annoyed) than you guys are. Hopefully this will be toned down a lot. At its current level, it's ridiculous.

Are so invasive that I cannot describe how much it annoys me to see it and interrupt me. :frown:

It's not actually about privacy for me, it's not like I'm spending all my time on 4chan or the deep web. TSR's ads slow the page and are ''loud'' and obnoxious. Compare with Reddit which a) has a product worth buying in Reddit gold and b) only uses the smallest amount of ads necessary.

Not the mods you have to worry about, but worse: the admins.

I get you, Reddit has real small static ads from what I have seen.

Maybe in a forum where haughty, pompous personalities were disciplined and members were happy to disable adblock for the pleasant experiences the site potentially offered.....

I know this is completely unrelated to what you have said, it's a valid point and thanks for raising it... but...

I love that you use that font, I don't know why, I just do. :yy:
I simply used Adblocker to block the purple panel. Problem sorted.

Blocking ads about not blocking ads 😂 it's the Inception of ad blocking...

What is wrong with a few ads on a site you like to visit. You are supporting the site by allowing ads to be shown and it is not too much of a bother.

The only 'sort of' ad that annoys me is the one that comes up in the middle of the screen sometimes. I would just simply ignore them.

Ads can (and have) be used for malicious intent. Not just your sketchy porno site ads either. There have been several occasions of Google's Adsense network being used to distribute malicious ads, keep in mind this is a huge network, and... Well... Google.... So on top of the QOL issues that ads represent, you also potentially expose yourself to malicious ads, all so someone can pocket a bit of money? No thanks. My experience and safety is far more important than your pocket, move with the times or die off. If TSR can't move with the times, it'll die off and we'll migrate to another internet forum like Reddit.
If you have adblock but can't figure out how to remove a specific ad, you don't deserve to have adblock tbh

Also TSR has like, a single banner ad if you whitelist it, which 99% of the time is for a university or UCAS. It's not exactly an egregious example of intrusive advertising. Plus adblock messes with the functionality of some aspects of the website anyway, which is more annoying than the advertisements if you're a regular user, and if not it's not going to make a difference anyway
