Is European Union the biggest enemy UK faces?

In terms of economics. Even the Chancellor once called them the “enemy” albeit he regretted saying that. However considering how EU is treating us as a nation, and continuing to try to woo over British firms to their side of continent (stealing our business) makes you wonder.
Their opportunistic approach is smart and makes sense- Britain would probably have done the same.

However, I can’t help but see EU as an organisation whose ambitions are now colliding with UK’s, a lot more than any Middle Eastern or Eastern European power.

Should we think of EU as a friend or foe? Are they our enemy?

What do you think?

Not at all, they are a club we asked to join and went on to leave. The current negotiations are just that, two parties doing their own bidding about severance fees and future trading arrangements. The FAKE problem peddled by parts of the mainstream media is that, by not accepting our terms, the EU are enemies.

That is a distortion of the real world and people shouldn't fall for it.

Do you not blame them? We have royally screwed one over on them. How do you think they feel about this? I think we are being treated exceedingly well considering the wrecking ball effect the UK leaving is having on the EU project.

If we come out breathing after Brexit that will be a major achievement. You don't shaft your closest neighbours and see them thank you for it. We are Britiain. We are not the British Empire. We are kind of insignificant on out own. Only our own inflated ego is making us think people will role over for us.
