Universal income (my brilliant idea)

Universal income is needed because there is not enough well paid jobs for everyone and the contributory welfare system is no longer sufficient. Automation is coming. Government need to take more central command of the economy for redistribution etc.

But the key point is, universal income is needed because many people are simply surplus to requirements. They're not even able to be taxed enough to pay into the pyramid scheme that's the pension system. Society don't need everyone alive now, some would definitely be better off dead as they are a drain. And this ties in quite well with human overpopulation causing ecological collapse etc.

Make universal income a lifetime benefit enough to live on and have disposable leisure income on condition that the people on it are sterilised and are not jailed. This would get rid of problems associated with poverty and make society more meritocratic. People of poor stock no longer breeding limits future liability to society. If you don't need this benefit, it is because you are better, and more useful than others.

The government will need to make sure people of good stock continue to breed of course, but the bad apples will be weeded out through natural death.

I'd go for this idea. This would appeal to both left / right wing politics.

this idea? well i guess great minds think alike. glad i'm not the only one wanting to combine socialist welfare with eugenics
It's a terrible idea and it is no surprise to see it growing in popularity with big government leftists.

The individual needs to stand on their own feet, they need to generate their own wealth, they need to learn to not be dependent on the government or the success of others. Only then can they be free.

Everyone is dependant on others, that has been and always will be the case.

The current paradigm makes people extremely dependant on their employer for their well being. Why is that better than being dependant in government?

the point is, some individuals will never be able to stand on their own two feet.

more and more humans will become part of the useless class.

what would be your solution? shoot them all? i mean, we're talking degrees of dystopia here. i think mine would be "better" than that.
The rise of automation will eventually lead to a situation where the capitalists own everything they need to sustain a very high standard of living without needing human beings.

At that moment, the capitalists will have robot armies which the working class will have to defeat.

UBI will be offered as hush money by the capitalists while the transition to a fully automated economy takes place and no doubt the sheeple will lap it up.

The people need to see that communism is the only way to ensure that every human being is accounted for and that the benefits derived from the technological advancements made by humanity are shared equally. Otherwise, the sheeple will be left with houses which do not produce anything wondering where they went wrong.

well, even if the government took centralised control of the economy and shared out the fruits of production, the fact remains, many people are useless and would be better off dead.

do you not agree that we need a way to both reduce inequality and reduce human population?

I'm centre-right and this is an awful idea, I think we should have high wage and low welfare economy to the power of people are within their own hands not " is the government going to give me a payrise through taxes? "

How witless. You should be brave enough to embrace your own ideas. Get sterilized. Make the world a happier place

Where do you think high wages come from?

The centre is dead BTW. Democracies hate center politics

Your brilliant idea is completely unelectable and therefore irrelevant.

Money from state = higher taxes, as they would get higher income employers would just pay less meaning the same income as before. High wage will come with the new minimum wage coming in which is very high compared to the world.

Who are the so called useless people?

Inequality is due to capitalism.

Human population is not a big issue. It needs to be monitored and accounted for planning and forecasting purposes.
We already have a form of universal income

You can claim 23,000 pounds a year.
Claim a free council home.
Get free healthcare.
Even get free food from a foodbank.

It's already here.
