NSAA Help with physics and maths questions

Year 12 and doing Maths, Chem, Physics and Bio. Wish I'd done FM but decided to do Bio.

FM is great - would recommend picking up the AS if you can next year (it greatly improves your understanding of general maths)

are you applying for Cambridge?

Was planning on doing FM all year long but decided to stray away because of the new spec for FM. I'll see if I can pick it up because maths is fun

Wow I didn't even know that the computer science course allows that. I just checked and you can even do psychology with computer science that's pretty awesome!

Yeah the Year 12s at my school are currently learning the same stuff as what we're learning for FP2 - it's mental haha

(also i editted the previous post - I'm not taking Chem - I meant CS )

Yeah it is pretty awesome - just a shame that the Physics component is only in first year (unless I decide to switch to NatSci in second year - given that I even get in haha)

Dude Cambridge don't take GCSEs into account (if only to see how much you have improved since) - If you're predicted the grades apply!

They don't do pure chem so not for me 😅.

I have a friend who's applying to Oxford for that exact reason haha

although, many people say that they go into NatSci knowing what they 'think' they want to do, and come out having specialised in something completely different as the course exposed them to so many new things

Oxford seems like a daunting place.

You never know with a person like me- I did like the idea of natural sciences but it's just too broad for me I think. Still have a year til I submit my application so I'll probably change my mind around 563 times.

Can I ask where you are applying?

You should definitely look more into it , NatSci at Durham is a little narrower I believe if you fancied looking there

I'm applying to Cambridge, Durham, Manchester (Maths & Compsci), UCL (Mathematical Computation) and Reading (Computational Mathematics). (Preference in that order haha).

Also Durham and Cambridge are so much friendlier and less daunting than you would expect. I found Oxford a little too big for my liking .

lol it's more like 1.5 minutes per question. There are 54 multiple choice questions to answer and 80 minutes to do it in. The second section is 40 minutes so 50 marks. :O
