Funny you say that when the problem at hand stems from a white man.

Hardly. If a brown man in a long-independent country puts pressure on his compatriot to dress like white men that is a problem of brown thinking, not white thinking or action. As is the fact that the brown-dressing brown man succumbs to such pressure.
Hopefully one day Coolio will put down his kill whitey book and learn some real sociological analysis based on class. Pick up some Marx.

People probably shouldn't go to hard on Coolio though, he is literally 14.

If white people can't wear braids, then black people can't wear wigs with blonde, straight hair then. If people can't wear Indian styled clothes, then Indian people can't wear western style clothing. Skin/ear/lip stretching is a practice started hundreds of years ago in tribes, so people who aren't involved in their tribe shouldn't do it?

People should be able to wear whatever they want and express themselves whatever way they want in my opinion.

First of all a braid is not a hair type but a African/Black hair STYLE. BLONDE hair is a type of colour and not a form of appropriation (never knew white people claimed the colour blonde..). And if a white women decided to style her hair curly and black person decided to style their hair straight - this isn't cultural appropriation. You do realise that their are white people out their with curly hair and black people out their with STRAIGHT hair  So, is their natural hair cultural appropraition? I think not. Only when a typical hairstyle belonging to a certain culture is styled by a racist person this causes commotion as it is cultural appropriation

The oldest known examples of braided hair are European. The same applies to Dreadlocks which originated in Ancient Greece.

Stop appropriating white European culture you disgusting racist bigoted ****.

You'll be up in arms when you see black people with braided hair appropriating a culture and style used by Gauls (Iron Age Europeans), then, and keen to put a stop to it.

Agai , this comment is ignorant

Ok think of it like this, before britain even knew their was a country like India or even a whole continent like Africa (@Slavery :/). Everybody was happy, peaceful and never once felt the need to "succumb" to pressure to change their culture to fit the "white man's" idea of "normal"

Yet, when the "white man" decided to colonise these countries. Automatically, 3rd world countries like - India or Ghana. Felt the need to look like the white man to avoid enlavement, pain and felt need of acceptance. Think about it, before colonisation the term "White is right" was never a popular belief. Due to colonialisation, their is colourism and the continuous need to look eurocentric - skin lightening, wigs with straight hair, surgery to avoid having the "African" nose and abandonement of cultures.

The brown man only encouraged his compatriots BECAUSE of the white man. Again, had the white man NOT colonised the country. The "brown man" wouldnt need to feel pressure to look like the white man and succumb to the pressure. The white man is the catalyst, POC's purely reacted to this form of oppression

honestly, dont know where you get your information. But I strongly believe it stems from a "White" man made textbook, making you belive that is the truth. This from of style did originate from Africa.......

Im going to ignore your last comment, your clearly an immature child hoping to aggravate me, lol
I guarantee the op and Coolio will both grow up to have fat White wives one day lmao.

You have just described white people existing, and thus provoking brown people into wanting to be like them, as an act of oppression - all while complaining that white people shouldn't want to look like brown people. You need to take a good long look at yourself.

I'd like to point out Coolio is 13-14 (he just entered year 9) I think we all had some pretty stupid views when we were that age, he will grow out of it.

Actually their are many  lol. Yet even if their were none what are you suggesting? That black people are too illiterate to make educational textbooks on their own history. One i believe they most probably know more about compared to any other race. Wow, racist bigotry much?
I guess all of this stems from the "absense of white people as a race" thing I read about recently. The theory is that media has pushed it so that white people is considered "superior" and those labelled as a race is inferior. Which is funny because being white is a race that has it's own culture (i.e Nordic). Though all the emphasis on other cultures makes it seem like white people don't have culture and are considered above race.

I think that the main core of cultural appropriation is important, showing respect and understanding for other cultures is a MUST. Though I highly disaprove of people whom wear cultural clothing with little-to-no understanding of how important these items are to said cultures. Most notably is Native American attire and how often it is misused in fashion, though this not the only example.

Honestly, the whole "defend or blend in" argument is a joke in itself. It's more about respect and understanding rather than "hiding" or "throwing out" aspects of culture. Sure they're countries not yet politically developed to understand the concept of cultural appropriation and thus in order to remain safe in those areas you MUST adhere to their culture. But in Western society, we're certainly adept enough to start grasping the concept of appropriate cultural appropriation.

Though it could be said about western culture on the debate over Niqabs and Hijabs. The prime argument for this is usually "security reasons" and it's pushed that these items are a sign of "oppression" which is a load of horse ****. When in actuality it's a religious garment that is a choice for women. Plus, how hard would it be to escort someone wearing these items to a private area in which they can authenticate their ID (primarily Airports)? Often this argument is thrown together with fearmongering in order to push people against those that dont' fit into the white western culture.

TL;DR: Respect and understand cultural fashion before adapting it into your wardrobe, this is the way cultural appropriation is done correctly. The media twists and contorts other cultures via the use of fearmongering in order to turn people away.

Apologies if I write something that sounds off I sometimes misinterpret my sentences.

Is it really? For instance, you have respect for Meso-American cultures that practised human sacrifice for reasons of superstitious belief, do you?

You're both as racist as each other, he's saying books by blacks don't exist, you're saying ignore a book's merits because it was written by a White man, he and others are saying don't appropriate whites, you're saying don't appropriate blacks. Your views are actually identical, you just both happened to of been born into different socially constructed "races" and both have slightly different amounts of melanin in your skin. If you were born white you'd be saying exactly the same things he's saying because psychologically you're exactly the same, you're both petty minded racists.

The sooner society can ignore the bigoted opinions of right-wing racists like yourself and the individual you're quoting, the sooner we can have a colour blind world. Race mixing FTW.

Judging from your own grammar, yes.
