Nope, waste of taxpayers money. Socialists often don't understand that when something gets given to them for free, it doesn't just come out of thin air- someone is paying for it, and that someone is called the taxpayer.


I understand where your viewpoint is coming from however, people are paying for them anyways, so surely it would only create a more level playing field and normalise periods for all?
I feel like they should be free for people in certain situations. As a legit example right now i am salty about paying over £10 worth of bloody mary stock to keep me sane for the next week but people do have it worse.

I don't see how people can try justify this with comparing it to taking a poop. Like, guess how many menstruating woman would sacrifice a period for 5-7 days of just pooping, minus the pain and soft squishy toilet paper where you can also guarantee you may not bleed to death or humiliate yourself in public.

Note: A religious argument is not accepted.

I disagree with child benefits as well. It encourages people to have too many children.

At the end of the day, if you want to have sex and not end up with a child, you should pay for the contraception yourself. People need to take individual responsibility for their actions.

I should have added, hopefully before anyone quotes me (not meaning to sound needy), that they should be as cheap as possible, i.e. not VAT rated. I get how they were classed as luxuries as there are less luxurious alternatives, but we live in the 20th century (I'm a northerner) and some of us live in the next century (I can't wait).

A significant number of women also poo more whilst on their period which increases the amount of toilet paper they use too (when they already use more than their male counterparts).

You can also get toilet paper for free in public toilets. Do you not think you should be able to get that, or should everyone have to carry a roll of toilet paper round with them too?

This is a typical case of people expecting more than they should rightfully receive.

You cited free condoms - preventing STIs and unwanted pregnancies saves the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds each year, so the cost to the taxpayer is offset.

How exactly do you justify making sanitary products free? Why should women be entitled to it? Do I get free bog roll and toothpaste, then?

The toilet paper is not free. It is paid for by the owners of those public bathrooms.

Perhaps you can convince store owners and such that they should pay for tampons as well and include them.

For that matter, I have no idea why you would post anonymously.

Although they are essential I don't thnk they should be totally free- that's economy breaking stuff right there. Periods are a fact of life, but so is taking a dump and toilet roll isn't free.
I don't think they sould all be free, but I do think they should be counted as essentials (no luxury tax on them) and that there shoud be a system for free ones for people in need (like low income) and also that it would be nice to see more free machines in places like colleges and unis.

There isn't a "luxury tax" - there is VAT (at the lower rate, not the standard!).

You do get free "bog roll" whenever you use public toilets, and there was outrage in the (primarily Tory) media a couple of years ago about the number of people getting toothpaste on the NHS. So individually: yes.

ah okay...so because we are male we can't have an opinion ...yet you expect us to pay for your lady issues. Sounds fair. Pretty sure your just a troll at this point. :/
