New Austrian government calls for ban on Muslim immigration

Austria's newly elected Far-Right government, the APP party, has called for a total ban on Muslim immigration to Austria, as well as from high terror risk countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Good or bad news?

It’s their choice, they are a sovereign people and it is for their parliament to decide.

Very difficult to say whether it is good news or not. This is going to put further pressure on the EU and it’s free movement dogma, but what will be the result?

Brexit, Catalonia, Muslim immigration and opposition to free movement of Muslims, they all share one thing.

They are issues which were either totally caused by or made ten times worse by the EU.

Remoaners need to tell everyone. What exactly is so good about the European Union again? As we can see from their reaction to us having the audacity to choose to leave. It is an organisation which is getting harder and harder to have anything but contempt towards.

Here is Austria's GDP https://www.google.ie/search?q=austria+gdp&oq=Austria+GDP&aqs=chrome.0.0l6.4649j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
note how since it joined EU in 1994, its GDP has massively increased

There are hicks and bumps here and there but when it means preventing wars, setting standards to ensure the average man's safety, etc, etc, any fool can see (NVM apparently not) that there is a something 'so good about the European Union again'

Perhaps it’s time for Britain to bring the country back into line. It’s time they stopped thinking their world revolves around Ramsey street. When we leave the EU we should re-exert our powers over the commonwealth and start telling them how to behave.

They are part of the British commonwealth, Our Queen will always be head of their state and when we leave the EU they will start doing what we tell them.

Are you saying that you want Brussels to interfere more in a member state's business?
A so called democracy
Banning a whole religion for the barbarity of a couple of rogue fighters
Who also kill people of their own faith
Who even wants to move to Austria anyway? Doubt muslim immigration there is even significant enough to warrant a ban since it won't have such a big impact.

This is just about making far right people feel better. Fact is, terrorists dont bother with irrelevant countries like Austria.

That "irrelevant" country is actually a very rich, powerful-economic country.

It's fairly rich yes but in relative terms even poland is richer. And powerful? Nah, it's not particularly powerful. The fact that there's a far right in power in Austria has left Europe largely unfazed. Compare that to the frenzy in the Netherlands or France.
Is it bad that I can see where they're coming from ._.

On one hand, discrimination based on faith is wrong. However, Muslim immigration often brings issues because of where these people typically come from and the needs they have. Kind of torn on this tbh.

They were in the British empire before they joined the commonwealth. Their police are known as the Royal Austrian Constabulary ( RAC) they wear a crown on their caps. I saw them once at Salzburg airport, and they used to operate in Northern Ireland.

How can you use GDP per capita to measure wealth? Do you even economics? You use Real GDP or GNI.

My god you're an idiot. By that logic you're also claiming Austria is richer than the UK and Germany and Norway is richer than the USA you retard.
