Tory Sleaze

I do think it will come out that very many more male Tory MPs are involved than any other group - it goes with the profile. Most leading Tories have to be fairly unpleasant people as a base fact, given that they are supporting pure self-interest, greed and the defence of the interests of the rich as an organised force. When you add to that the arrogance and lies that most of them seem to have as an operational norm, then it's only a small step to sexual intimidation as well.

You're the literal embodiment of everything that's wrong with politics.

Right. Not the Tory Party who landed us with a Brexit that is going to collapse our economy.

Your endless, idiotic, tribal ******** is far more damaging to far more people in the long run.

I'm simply calling it for what it is - the nasty party hasn't gone away.

Note for example that the Tory sex pest spreadsheet circulating already has ~50 names on it - these are MPs for pete's sakes.

I really ****ing hate pathetic little boy trolls in basements who seize on stories like this with minimal information and then use it to run their brainless peanut-brain male misogyny and feminist-bashing routines using it as a pretext.

You really that surprised? Labour have become the new UKIP in that regard.

That it has happened in Labour or the attempts to distract? No in either instance.

For the former I expect this sort of behavior is also going to be happening in the Tories, quite possibly lib Dems and SNP too

For the later, same again, I expect it would also be the case if it we're another party, but worse with labour because they have more followers on social media and they tend to be much louder.

The funny thing is the list isn't even 40, let alone 50, and it includes people such as Rudd for having the audacity to be in a relationship.

ALL institutions are going to have this problem whether it’s the Catholic Church, BBC or the Socialist Workers Party.

It’s the sad but inevitable state of our human nature. What’s more disturbing I think is that it gets hushed up- there needs to be a clear whistleblowing policy and ways of dealing with it so that things do not become a witch hunt.

While all institutions will the larger ones are more likely to have such a problem at any given time.

As for the latter some elements of the"scandal" are being overblown, for instance Rudd's inclusion for dating a fellow MP and Fallon's thus far given it wasn't even a mild issue and was dealt with maturely at the time by both parties. But there are the serious ones such as the rape accusations, and the accusations that were made recently about Heath, supposing they were true and covered up.

I’m sure there are plenty of cases where prominent people have been protected unjustly .

The Heath thing is genuinely scary- I followed it quite closely when it came out. Iirc two of the people who made the allegations s about Heath were convicted fraudsters one of whom was a convicted pedophile- both gave wildly contradicting evidence and dates. Eg one supposed incident took place whilst Heath was in the US, his yacht where supposedly took victims was a tiny racing shop where there was practically no room etc.

Anyway, without any evidence the police turned up at the dead mans house and launched an official inquiry. It’s like me ringing up the police now and saying I got abused by roger Moore once and then the next day holiding press conference outside his house.

Whatever you think about the man it’s an absoloute travesty of justice.

I imagine there is a disproportionate number of people who engage in sexual harassment who are in positions of power as it probably selects for people who like having power, one way of exercising power is having sexual power over someone and using it.

This is part of the problem. Consensual sexual conduct, such as having an affair, is being lumped into the same category as sexual assault. It's just all treated as blackmail for whips to install party discipline. The government has an interest in keeping sexual assault secret.

She doesn’t like them either.
This sort of stuff is used by whips. Here is footage of one admitting it. They get an MP out of a scandal, which they can then use as blackmail to enforce the whip. He even uses "small boys" as his freaking example. Stuff like this means it really wouldn't surprise me if Ted Heath had been a wrong en. It is part of the mechanisms of parliamentary politics, that has to change if you want the victims and prevention of sexual crimes to be the priority.

It would t surprise me that much with most politicians etc. That’s not the point . Suspicion is not proof.

The Whips thing is abhorrent- Lisa Nandy who in a fan of brought it up today in PMQs. There needs to be an inquiry or something.

I didn't say it was proof. I meant if something is systemic then it is going to happen. It isn't just a matter of individual moral failing.

Lisa Nandy raised the issue of whips using sex scandals for leverage with Theresa May in a debate on child abuse in 2014.

It's just the latest fad. Probably won't even last as long as fidget spinners

It might be worth remembering that the Tories have a history of sleaze and infighting that ended Major's government and saw the Tories whipped out of power for 13 years!

I think enacting polices that cause disabled people to commit suicide is worse than partisan politics. Even that is small fry. Technocratic none partisan politics is just as capable of terrible things. Anyway there are real social and economic reason why political parties form. Party systems have to be partisan to some degree otherwise they would die. So until humans become Vulcans it's always going to be like that.
