Just finished my first cover letter, proud of myself (inset smug face emoji - can't do as on mobile app)!

Yeah my brothers on EE he told to me switch to it. I didn't set up my contract my mum did when she bought me a phone for my birthday a few years ago  so I never really got to look into it. I don't even need unlimited data, I think 1.5-2.5GB would be fine for me since I don't use it a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't know why their speed was throttled, 99% of people do not bother reading terms and conditions

EE is a very good network from my experience, would definitely recommend it

Though if you would get away with 1.5-2.5GB then you'd be able to get the £10 goodybag from Giffgaff which will give you 3GB data - more than enough. And of course you can upgrade/downgrade whenever you want to on Giffgaff

The trouble with Virgin Mobile was that the FUP was very well hidden and goes against their offer of unlimited data. Believe it or not, though, all capped data allowances that had data allowances over 3.5GB also had this hidden limit applied, whereby if they exceeded it, their speed was severely throttled! So by using up the data they paid for, they could have an unusable service!

Virgin is a company I would never touch with a barge pole. Virgin TV/mobile/broadband etc, Virgin Money, Virgin Holidays, Virgin Trains, the whole lot, I would never use!
