And the winner is...

"Fake news"

(yes I'm aware it's two words lol)

The phrase now synonymous with President Trump, has been popularised not only within the political sphere, but also in day to day life, with usage of the term grew by 365% in 2017.
"Fake news" will become a new entry in the dictionary as of next year.

You can read more on the story here.

What do you make of this? Do you think this was a worthy winner? What is your word of the year?

My word of the year is "soup". I've become a big fan of soup this year.
Jesus Christ, what retard decided the word of the year to be two words?
I really don't think it deserved to be the word of the year, even aside from the fact it's two words.
The expert word people who decide the word of the year can't tell when something is actually two words and not one.

Excellent.
Says a lot about the world when the 'word of the year' (which is in fact 2 words) revolves around the wotsit that we call the US president!
