Hey,
With so many applicants for streams other than computing, thought it'd be better to make a new thread.
How many of you have recd offers? :s-smilie:
Pls mention whether you are UK/EU or international (mention the country as well)

EE & CS first year here. Tag me in if you have any questions about the course and I'll try to answer. I probably won't be able to answer any admissions related questions, though.

H :smile:, I am applying for CS. Is there a lot of theory involved in the course in your opinion? I prefer the mathematical/theoretical side of CS, so it possible to to focus more on that side?

Straight CS applicants have to talk a course called Introduction to Linear Algebra which is quite mathematical, obviously. There are also two more compulsory modules called Computation and Logic (which is heavily theory based) and also Functional Programming (done in Haskell).

So far it hasn't been extremely mathematical, but I'd imagine through Year 2-4 you will be able to specialise more in the theory.

I too am looking forward to attending more of theoretical classes including algorithms and mathematical concepts. I've applied for Computer Science with management. What about you?

Just straight Computer Science for me (thought about with maths but decided against it in the end) :smile:
At the moment, I have to send another document with predictions from my school for me to be considered, so that's kind of stressing me out at the moment. But I just looked at the whole course structure and the 3rd/4th year modules look really awesome.
Edinburgh is actually my second favourite of the unis I applied too, what about you?

What's your first, if you don't mind me asking?
I got an offer today. Since it's only AAA I assume it's for first year entry. Any idea what is needed for second year entry ?

A*AA to include Further Maths and relevant Computing qualifications/experience.

The offer doesn't say anything about second year entry. Perhaps it will be sent in the official email cause not enough space on UCAS Track ?

Do I need to email them to request second year entry ?

Did you not put point of entry as Year 2 in your UCAS application?

I would contact admissions if you want to go into second yr entry but haven't received an offer for that yet

Oh. I thought the options were year based: 2018 or 2019 entry. I will email them once I get the offer email to check whether I am eligible. Could they reject me from first year entry also if I change application to second year entry ?

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. It would seem odd to not offer someone first-year entry if they don't meet the requirement for second yr entry.

SciEng admissions are nice people. Best thing to do is to contact them :smile:

I mean the dream would be Cambridge, but that's not too likely. I also applied to Imperial, Durham and UCL. But apart from Cambridge and Edinburgh I am not sure I would not rather prefer to go to a uni in my home country even if I get offers.
