"Gay" Cardiff father who killed his adopted daughter is jailed

I just saw this when I Googled the article about Matthew Scully-Hicks:

But when you read the article there is no mention that he is gay. I haven't read too much about this story so does anyone know why they would mention the fact that he is gay?

You may think this is another anti-Daily Mail thread (and it probably is) but I'm generally interested in why they think him being gay is relevant..

I think I'm going to close this thread because I've realised that there hasn't been a thread about this story already. It's a tragic story and I don't want the focus to be on a Daily Mail article.
