Powerline or Extender for WiFi?

So we're in a bigger house now. The router is in the living room and can't be moved but then signal is patchy upstairs and other side of the house.

Do I buy a powerline adapter with wifi booster/hotspot (I think two receivers would be needed) such as:

Or do I just buy a powerful extender like:

Extender, without a doubt! :yep: Those powerline extenders are atrocious IMO.
imo the powerline ones are only worth it is you're using them to get a direct ethernet connection. Even then you'll run at about 50% speed. If you have very thick walls that still might be the way to go but for it to work effectively you would need many extenders, one for each device you want to give a wired connection to. If your walls aren't the problem you'll probably have better luck with an extender.

Thanks - really helpful.

I had bad experiences with extenders but they were cheap ones so maybe a more expensive one is the way to go.

Yes that is what was making me hesitant with powerline as I don't need a direct ethernet connection. Mainly just want to be able to use wifi around the rest of the house.
