Uni of Cambridge - MPhil in Advanced Computer Science (ACS) - 2018

Hi,

I had to start a new thread to collate all info under one thread since I did not see any particular discussion around this topic for 2018 session (or they're scattered all over the place).

Please share your experience in this thread.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Most postgrad applicants live in the Postgraduate Applications forum.

Specifically in this thread:

I've received an invitation for a Skype interview, anyone know roughly what I might be asked? I'm hoping that most of it is a kind of discussion about the area of my research proposal :-)

On a different note - may I ask u what do you intend to specialize on? Computer Architecture or ML?

Thank you. And neither of those -- I hope to specialise in Logic!
Have you heard anything about an interview?

I'm waiting for my referees to reply back and plan to submit my application by next week.

Hope your interview goes well tomorrow.

Good Luck.

Thank you -- keep me updated with your application :-)
Anyone know how long after an interview people typically get rejected? Expecting a rejection, though an offer would be a nice surprise 😂

Please elaborate, why do you think you may be rejected?
My interview must have gone better than I thought -- I have been made a conditional offer :-)

@schj how long did it take them to update your status from 'submitted' to 'under review'?

Ok, thanks ... seems like it'll stretch out until mid/end of Jan 2018 for me due to Xmas and new year ...

"Status: Under review by department" ... fingers crossed!

The best thread for general discussion about postgrad applications to Cambridge is probably this one:

This is just an issue of batching and the admissions secretary's workload. Applications are dispatched from GAO in batches and sent out to the relevant department. The admissions 'team' (usually the Departmental Secretary who might have an assistant) distributes the applications around to the most relevant academic to review. Quite when they click 'under review' can vary wildly, depending on their specific personal and departmental processes and their capacity.
