FREE MMI Mock Circuit

I'm sure that, as I have, many of you have already received interviews to medical universities which use MMIs, or at least (hopefully) will receive one in the future. I am organising a free mock MMI circuit, I believe that the best method of preparing is to pool our knowledge together; never underestimate the power of teamwork. We will each become experts on one type of question asked at MMIs and teach each other. The maximum number of people is 12 so if you're interested, PM me ASAP and I shall update you accordingly.

Yes, it is for 2018 applicants mainly, although if you've deferred your entry, you would also be eligible to participate.

Guess you'd have to make the trip. Perhaps if too many applicants aren't from london we can shift this to an online session.

Right and where are your going to be getting the information to make you 'experts'?

The internet is vast my friend. Besides, I've got the resources but at this rate, we're all trying to digest all of the information whilst assessing whether it is valid. Instead, we could each specialise which makes everything many times more efficient. I've also had the opportunity to contact the interviewers themselves so I'd say I have quite a bit of knowledge to share.

Right so what happens if one (or all) of you teaches the rest BS? Who are these interviewers you've contacted and why did they give you information about their MMI interview techniques? I'm assuming they didn't give you anything that would provide you an advantage in the real thing?

Well, probably nothing I could learn from searching online but it's definitely advantageous and most importantly, it's reliable. I think you have the impression that only individuals who have been familiar with the interview process for years are qualified to run an MMI course but if you look at the courses available, a lot of them are run by medical students who technically could also have false impressions about good practice. Also, they might have been through the interview process but they don't actually have to be present for us to learn from them.

Obviously, I won't discount the possibility that one may have obtained false information but if we take a cautious approach and use common sense, we could go a long way in preventing that (especially because the mistake would have to pass through 12 people without anyone doubting the advice- in which case none of us should have applied to medicine in the first place). At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and instead of paying £150, you're paying NOTHING. No one is expecting this to guarantee them a place and in fact, apparently the paid courses aren't very beneficial at all.

Your assumption is wrong. I am well aware that the majority of these interview prep courses are run by medical students and still would take them with a pinch of salt.

What exactly is your format going to be?

Then I don't see your concern? I'm not claiming to offer the perfect course; as long as it is beneficial, it is worth doing. I am not forcing you to take part.

That sounds amazing ! I am also in the North of England 👍
Announcement to all who have PM'd me with regards to the MMI circuit. I have decided to start off with a skype session to start off where we will just be bouncing ideas off of each other. I am still organising the official MMI circuit which will take place at an actual hall to mimic the interview environment. I want everyone to send me their skype accounts which I shall reply to with an area that they should read on. It will take place on 18/11/17 Saturday, 8:30PM. Be very wary of using sites that aren't reputable for research. If the advice comes from medical students, doctors or universities, it should be useful to know. Remember that this is a joint effort and will not be effective unless everyone puts their share of effort into it; it will be obvious if anyone has decided to neglect their portion of the work and leech off of other's. Let's get the ball rolling guys!
