Its always going to be linked with ethics, but if you wanted to take a different approach, then off the top of my head you could look for:

1. Legal angle. Laws, what they manage to do and how effective. appropriate they are.

2. Medical and the problems associated with contraception and birth control.

3. Social policy. Need for and changing values/ social attitudes. More like a Geography study on impact and development.

It just requires a more practical approach dealing with the here and now.

You could keep any of the above focused on the UK or you could turn them international.
