Uni life

I've moved from london to birmingham for uni and I just dont seem to be making friends. This might sound lame but, I expected my uni life to be amazing where i love all my housemates and make friends from all the societies i've joined. In reality, i've moved accomodation because of drugged up roommates and I haven't met any solid friends from scoieties. I have made a few friends from my course but they all commute so at the end of the day i go back to my accommodation and do nothing. I'm just looking for advice because I'm contemplating finding a uni in london so I can commute.
If anyone has any advice please tell me... Thanks in advance.

Maybe try other societies or sports teams as you may be able to make some more friends there. Or if you have made some friends on your course get to know them better and you may end up becoming friends with their other friends as well.
Hi geministar,

I'm a final year with a few tips, and it took me two years to do these myself, yet this last year has been my best one so far:

- Try some other societies / clubs that are intriguing to you, but are slightly out of your comfort zone. These might be a great way to meet people,
- Make sure to keep talking to people: it just takes one person to start a chat with somebody, often everyone wishes someone would be brave enough to talk to them.
- Enjoy socialising in new places, this might be out in clubs / bars, but it could also be on uni-organised trips, and other events that are daytime / cultural-orientated.

We hope this helps!

Thanks to both of you. It seems that I’ve been going to a lot of different societies and nothing is getting better. However, I’ve been forcing my course friends to stay out and socialise a bit more so my anxiety isn’t as strong. I will try and go on more activities to meet other people though
