HELP?! Trying to work out my degree result

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out my overall grade for my degree results, i'm trying to figure out what i'm likely to come with for my MA. If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.

The pass rates within my university are as follows:
Distinction;
75-100/100 A+
70-74/100 A

Merit;
65-69/100 B+
60-64/100 B

Pass:
55 - 59/ 100 C +
50 - 54/ 100 C

I have included a break down of all of my results for the whole course. The course is in 6 modules all counting up to 180 credits.

Module 1: 20/ 180 credits.
Results: 70% 60/100 marks, 30% 58/100 marks

Module 2: 25/180 credits
Results: 60% 75/100 marks, 20% 75/100 marks, 20% 70/100 marks

Module 3: 25/180 credits
Results: 75% 70/100 marks, 25% 65/100 marks

Module 4: 20/180 credits
Results: 50% 65/100 marks, 50% 65/100 marks

Module 5: 30/180 credits
Results: 70% 80/100 marks, 30% 77/100 marks

Module 6: 60/180 credits
Results: 85% 75/100 marks, 15% 75/100 marks

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I just added those marks up and they make 390?

70 + 60 + 75 + 50 + 70 + 65 = 390

thank you :smile:

Deleted my last comment bc I was looking at the wrong part - hopefully this is correct :smile:

Module 1: 118/200

Module 2: 220/300

Module 3: 135/200

Module 4: 130/200

Module 5: 157/200

Module 6: 150/200

Total = 910/1300

910 / 1300 x 100 = 70

So if my math is right, you should in fact have 70% :smile:
The modules have different weightings though

Thank you! I just saw this, i hope so, i'm desperately trying to figure it out as the suspense is driving me crazy!! I thought i got my results tomorrow but i have to wait another two weeks for the official grade. I know this sounds daft, but i have no idea how you figured the above out ^^^ does it make a different in terms of some modules where worth more than others - for example 60/180 credits i've gotten a distinction 75 in, so would those modules out way it and make a higher grade?

Hi thank you for your reply! I tried to use the calculator you linked me to however it won't let me differentiate between how weighted the modules are. For example my largest module which i achieved one of my highest grades in is 60/180 credits. Do you think this would way more in my favor or a higher mark due to the module being significantly larger in credit or would all of the 6 modules still be divided simply by 6.

If not the modules work out as;

Module 1: 11.1 % of overall mark
Module 2: 13.8 %
Module 3: 13.8%
Module 4: 11.1%
Module 5: 16.6666%
Module 6: 33.333%

Thank you!
Yes the 60 credit module is worth 33%, so just enter your overall module mark (don't forget your individuals assessments are weighted differently) compared with those percentages.

Thank you!
That's the bit i'm struggling with, figuring out the overall grade from the two assessment grades in each modules as i've only been given the two marks so far as opposed to the overall for each module by my tutor. Once i have those for the 6 modules i can then use the calculator to try and figure it out (Maths is not my strong point my apologies haha)

By my calculations (if I've taken the module and exam weightings into account correctly), your overall percentage is 71.83% - so you would get a distinction (A). I think that this should be right, but don't take my word for it! :tongue:

Anyway, looking at all of your individual marks as a whole, a distinction (A) looks to be the most likely. :smile:

Emily! What did you end up getting in the end? Was it a Distinction?

Hope it was! Greetings from London x
