If you are studying independently it is best to choose a book designed to match your examiners specification. Which examiner and specification are you preparing for?
What exam board are you doing?

Are you doing regular UK A levels with the new specifications or are you doing International A levels which more closely match the old uk specifications?
E.g. for International A level maths I'd suggest this series of books
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-AS-Level-Modular-Mathematics/dp/0435519107/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511215988&sr=8-1&keywords=maths+c1
For the new UK A level maths this series
