Never done the 9-1 maths but tutored someone taking it and boy it does seem tough! Some of the stuff I was completely unsure about and I do A-level maths. Personally I did IGCSE maths and it was a walk in the park
idk i did the igcse (got a B) but comparing it to the 9-1 , the 9-1 looks easier
hmmm perhaps the IGCSE spec has been updated since I last did it, most people said ours was easier than the old GCSEs and there’s no doubt 9-1 is harder than the old GCSEs so something must’ve changed

I did 9-1 GCSE and it was definitely harder than the old GCSE based on what I've heard and seen but I'm not sure about iGCSE. Arguably, the IGCSE is easier simply because there are more available resources (past papers, etc.) but there probably isn't much in it within the specifications themselves

Over the next few years, the 9-1 maths will gradually become tougher. UK has decided to adopt another country's maths style of teaching and higher standards. UK maths will never be a walk in the park again. All these developments have taken place in the past few years. It is only now that the new standards have been implemented.

Michael Gove during his time as the education secretary was the one who was behind these changes. He was embarrassed that the UK's standard of teaching and level of difficulty for maths and other subjects were low. So he pushed for the scrapping of the AS and A2 in favour of a set of exams at the end of the 2 years (which is similar to the system in Singapore) and also the need to adopt Singapore's high education standards in schools across the UK.

I did iGCSE last academic year (June 2017) and it was extremely easy; I ended up doing 9-1 papers for practice out of boredom there are some concepts like basic calculus which are considered difficult that aren't in the 9-1 spec, but they're at quite a basic level so it doesn't matter.
