"Extreme pornography" found on Secretary of State Damian Green's computer
It is alleged that porn was found when his offices were raided by counter terrorism officers.

There's something very smelly about this scandal. Sitting on this kind of allegation for almost 10 years and releasing it at a time most likely to cause damage is very dodgy.
Counter terrorism police were probably used due to the initial search being in relation to leaking classified information, including those protectively marked secret.

The legal definition of downloaded files probably encompasses streaming when the files are saved locally (in the browser cache, say).

Yes. But definitely not irretrievably. Most deleted files are very easy to retrieve afterwards, although they will gradually be lost over time as they are overwritten by new files. Exceptions being files written to RAM.
If counter-terrorism police were involved, I imagine they were going through his hard drive pretty thoroughly.
Besides, they don't always need the files themselves, only evidence that they existed.

Downloads were obviously but streaming was barely existent back then. iPlayer only came out in 2008, Youtube was 2005. I don't know when streaming porn sites started to become a thing but they'd have still been fairly niche in '09 I think.

The point is a guy in his 50s probably wouldn't have been tech competent enough to use streaming sites in 2009. Or private browsing, for that matter.

I dunno, i imagine a man in his 50s with an interest in extreme porn could be quite motivated to become tech savvy.

I know you're probably 18, but there are a lot of older people who can use the internet perfectly well. The internet was well-established by 2009 and things weren't really that different.

The former Scotland Yard officer added the pornography was not "extreme", as had previously been reported, and did not contain images of children or abuse.
Probably just means he was wasting a lot of time at work when he was suppose to be getting the country out of the crap
wonder why the anonymous ex plod decided to pipe up about it now?
