That's good, the university is really welcoming, especially on interview days! I do enjoy the course, the tutors are really approachable and they try to get to know you - especially you're personal tutor. Also, the placement schools (well the ones I've been in) are really supportive. I'm a maths specialist - if you went to the open day on the 14th October (don't worry if you didn't) you probably saw me! What specialism are you looking into?

Also, the building work around the Rolle building should hopefully be completed by the time you start - if you choose Plymouth.

That's really good to know, yes they were all so friendly and welcoming. They definitely calmed my nerves - which was good! Yes I did actually, I went to the talk so I probably saw you in there!

I like a variety of subjects and enjoy teaching younger years so I applied for early childhood studies.

I have also applied for two other courses at Marjons as I'm interested in being based in Plymouth but I don't have my interview with them until the 10th of January.

May I ask why did you choose Plymouth?

You probably did - I was with the maths lady.

Okay, the ECS people, I know from the course, are really nice!

I applied to Plymouth, Marjon, Gloucestershire, UWE and Bath Spa. Whilst going around them, I felt really comfortable at Plymouth and Gloucestershire but I chose Plymouth as it had a better reputation and I could do placements in my hometown. It is good to train where you want to teach as some schools (or even close/partnership schools) will give you jobs if you've impressed them and they have a vacancy coming up. Plus, it gives you experience teaching in local schools.

Good luck with your interview at Marjon. When I had my interview with them, they wanted some knowledge of recent educational news/advancements (plus the task) - so come prepared!

Yes I thought as I want to teach around Plymouth in the future, it would make sense to study in Plymouth.

Okay thank you - that's really helpful to know! I feel like the interview for Plymouth has calmed my nerves a lot as they were so friendly so I'm hoping Marjons will be the same.

I've just been invited to an applicant day and it says we can bring guests. Do people usually bring guests or is it just an option? I don't want to be the only person who hasn't brought someone with them. 😊

I'd take someone, if possible, but if you're the only person that has brought someone along, I'm sure they'll understand that it might be best to leave you. You will probably get talking with other applicants anyway - one of my friends, that I live with, I actually first met him at our interview at Gloucestershire and got talking with him!

I don't know what the norm is though.

It's quite possible for parents/guests to be taken off separately.

My advice would be to allow a point at which they leave you. Otherwise you're left with a choice of rocking up on your own or clinging to them because you're the only one who's brought guests. Speak to them before you go about if you arrive and nobody has brought people that you split up and they find something else to do.
