Ecology and Conservation/Biology 2018

Hellllooooo,

If any of you are thinking of doing any of these degree schemes or anything related to the Lancaster Environment Centre and have any questions, please ask away here!

If not, please feel free to drop me a message.

I'm a 3rd year currently studying Nat Sci but I did/do a lot of the Environment Centre modules so I'll be more than happy to help you out
I'm interested in conservation and ecology but am wondering those degrees are too specific and would limit me getting other bio jobs. Is it better to go broader? Or would that also be limiting because I have no specialist area?

Hey! Many of my friends study Ecology & Conservation and love it. I wouldn't worry about 'limiting your job prospects' because in first year you can take other biology modules and LEC modules that broaden your scope. If you discover you prefer the other modules, you can probably change degree schemes!

I started on Biological Sciences in first year and changed to Nat Sci because I wanted to focus on the Environment Centre modules. Flexibility is possible, but I think the Ecology & Conservation students have so many interesting modules and field trips that add amazing skills to their bow...

Bottom line, if you wanna study ecology and conservation... Go for it!
