LSE MSc Accounting & Finance

Anyone applied? I open this thread in case you want to share your experience or profile.

I have not received any news since the 12th of October. The 8 week approximate deadline is around the corner and my heart skips a beat every time I receive an e-mail.

Hope everyone gets an offer here!

Hi, I applied to MSc A&F as well. I submitted my application on November 10th, got my ID on the 13th so it has been exactly 3 weeks now. Not expecting any news until January tbh.

My profile: Top 10 UK uni, expected to graduate with first class in a related subject, relevant experience and previous internship in banking, no GMAT

Do you mind sharing your profile? yeah I hope we all can get an offer!

I'm Spanish. This year I finish a Double Degree in Law and Business Administration and a Degree in Political Science (so that is three simultaneous bachelor's degrees). Expected the equivalent of upper second class honors in all of them. Not stellar grades, but the workload has been a nightmare.

Exchange year in Seoul, South Korea and internships in HF. I start another internship in a Bulge Bracket in January, but the confirmation did not arrive in time, so I didn't include it.

Certificate of Proficiency in English with Grade A (C2), as it is mandatory for us foreigners and GMAT 730 (percentile 96%).

I am not sure if I'll make the cut, so fingers crossed

Hi all
I recently graduated this summer with a First in International Management China and am hoping to apply for the MSc in MSc Finance/Finance & Accounting at LSE. I have rung LSE myself with queries relating to how I can prove my quantitative skill and whether it is worth me applying (given that management isn't a highly quantitative course). All advice/recommendations were rather vague. Any and all advice/help from TSR on whether or not I am, at least, a viable candidate is much appreciated:

International Management China 2012-17 (First, Honours), SOAS university (lots of finance/accounting/economics courses)
ACTs 33/36 (American high school exam)
Experience gained during banking/trading and asset management internships in HK/Beijing/London
I currently manage a portfolio of stocks, trade forex and am a CFA level 1 candidate. experience running a small business.

my transcript looks good but I am worried about an econometrics module during my first year which I got a Third in....hopefully that won't be too important....

I've prepared my references and personal statement accordingly and am now just waiting for my GMAT test later this month (hoping for 700 at least). In the past, do LSE courses in Finance/Accounting close by January or can i afford to 'leave' it til then?

I think your profile is outstanding. I'm not sure about the time frame but, if you apply on time, you will get in for sure.

Nope. Still waiting. You?
any news guys? I've received the LSE for you code on 24th of Jan, I know it's quite early to wait for a response compared with people who applied back in Nov. Still, I was wondering what's the consensus.

I got the code mid-October and received my offer around the 10th of January. However, yours should be ready earlier, as the majority of applications are received during the first months.

Check if your documents' status changes on the Lse4u page. If the name of your degree is deleted from the transcript entry and just says "copy received" whilst moving to the bottom, you'll get an offer in a few days.

Hi, Eirik, not yet. Our dates are quite close I must say, 24th of Jan and 6th of Feb. I really looking forward for some news!
Other departments might have different processing dates.

I will let you know as soon as I hear something back

Hi Erik, sorry that you got rejected. Would you mind me asking what your profile is ? E.g. degree you applied for , degree you already have and grades etc.. ?

Would really appreciate it.

I have an upper first degree, straight A's. Graduating this summer from Kingston University with a BSc Business Management. Applied for this MSc Accounting and Finance. I know my references were good too! I think it is because of the lack of quantitative background, and no GMAT.

That’s unlucky your profile is not bad , maybe they just want people with very specific degrees e.g. accounting and finance. Also your uni might have gone against you as it’s ranked quite low (102nd). If you got straight A’s why did you go to such a poor undergrad uni ? Anyway , Unlucky man. I applied for MSc risk and finance so slightly different but I’m still waiting a reply. I have a similar background although I went to a top 25 uni and specialised in finance for my undergrad Management course. So that might help with the quantitative side. Good luck with any other applications !
