I mean, women's football is super underrated and people just don't realise that even though there's this whole debate about the women's game not being as good as the men's (and although at some point one could argue that it's right), they don't take into consideration the fact that women have been playing this game professionally for like what? 25 years? - and even that is a stretch. The oldest men's club team has probably been around for like over 100 years and playstyle, strategies, formations, &c. have evolved and become better over time, just like the women's is bound to.
A second point to take into consideration is the men's physique and their strength compared to a woman's. I could probably write an entire thesis about this, but the point is that women have to put a lot more effort in to build muscle than men do; it's a fact.
Third, but not least, the money that is invested in trying to make the game better. Again, this comes with time, but people are obviously more likely to invest in the game that is more popular, thus getting more spectators, &c. If you look at it from the other end, men's football has also become a huge industry and the countless times that popular players both you and I can name have faked a fault just so they could get that winning penalty or free kick for the final of whatever UEFA League they were playing in, just shows how some players just do it for the money... Everyone wants to win, but what's the fun in that if you don't respect the same rules as everyone else? Well +- couple of million euros here and there, y'know, "nothing much".
I haven't seen that happen in women's football and it might just be that it hasn't happened yet, but a fact is for sure, they earn A LOT less than the men do and they can't and won't risk faking an injury or anything like that because they just get up and keep playing. There isn't that much money in game so they just want to win, and win fairly. And of course I'm not saying that all men players are always looking to win unfairly, but let's face it, teams like Barcelona and others of the same caliber have done that a lot.
Anyway, back onto the main point. Women have a lot of potential, their game is constantly improving. It's just that people don't really want to give it any credit because in reality, people are always fixed on the idea that "nobody will ever be as good as x" and that's fair enough, but they've still gotta give the women's game a chance. People think that it's a bit hilarious because they're "trying and failing to copy what men can do", but really, they are improving and players like Tobin Heath and Megan Rapinoe (both from the US national team) are amazing examples (even though their careers aren't quite at the beginning) and you've probably never heard those names, but hey- at the end of the day, if you at least google them, I'm happy. There's a lot of young players that are doing extremely well too, so there's that. North American countries are more focused on women's football than European countries are, so that can also be an influencing factor - my opinion.
All I'ma say is give them a chance.
Side-note: They're fun to watch if you support a particular team or player.
