force question

a sailboat has a mass of 60kg and is accelerating at 0.4m/s2. the wind acting on the sail provides a force of 44N. the drag from the water acts in the opposite direction.
calculate the force of the drag acting on the boat.

force = mass x acceleration
60 x 0.4 = 24
i did 44 - 24 because we had to calculate the drag on the boat... i got 24N as my final answer but i'm really unsure if it's right!

Your method is correct, but 44 - 24 does not equal 24. :frown: Attention to detail. :tongue:

whoops, i meant that:redface: thank you!:smile:

You method is OK.

Attention to detail though: 44 - 24 is not 24. :s-smilie:
