Lancaster vs UEA?

I can't decide between Lancaster and UEA for natural sciences - I like both courses, both unis and both campuses! Please could someone give their opinions on them both I literally have no idea which to choose!

Lancaster course: Maths, and earth&environmental sciences
UEA: Maths and environmental sciences
Hi @Potterhead999! Just so I get this right and can help you further, are you interested in both the BSc Mathematics and BSc Environmental Sciences courses at UEA and Lancaster or just the BSc Natural Sciences courses at UEA and Lancaster?

The BSc Natural Sciences courses, sorry that did sound a bit confusing, they were just the modules I would choose at each uni.

Thanks for clarifying @Potterhead999!

In terms of the course, we've just made some Life as a UEA Student videos with Robert, Sauda and Paul in Natural Sciences. These should help give a flavour of what it's like to study the course here. I've popped the links below for you

Also, to celebrate 50 years of our School of Environmental Science and our recent recognition by the Queen with the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education 2017, we made this video below that might be of interest

With the campus and university, what in particular are you looking for? Picking the place you're going to live for the next few years can be a tough but important decision! I can't speak for Lancaster uni, but I studied at UEA in the School of History and have lived in Norwich for nearly 6 years, so should be equipped to answer any questions you might have on UEA and the campus! :h:

Also, if you've applied to both universities, have you attended an Applicant Day yet? I'd highly recommend so if you stuck between the two, as it might help finalise your decision.

Ah thankyou so much for the information! I will definitely look into it more and see if it sways my decision. I have been to both unis for open days to find out more about the courses and I did enjoy them both. I definitely preferred the city of Norwich itself over Lancaster, however, I really liked Lancasters campus so it is very difficult to decide! Norwich is also about 5 hours on the train from Newcastle which is where I'm from so it is definitely much further than Lancaster. I think therefore it'll also just depends if I want to move that far from home, I'm a bit unsure at the moment. Thankyou for your help on this

My housemate does natural sciences and loves it, she does ecology and conservation modules mostly. Have you been on the science faculty website? There's a lot more information there. Personally I would choose Lancaster but I'm a bit biased

Hi @Potterhead999,
My name's Charlotte and I'm currently a student at Lancaster. I applied for Natural Sciences and in first year I took Maths, Biomedicine and Spanish. I then changed course as I decided to do single honours Biomedicine. That being said - I live with two flatmates who do natural sciences, one of which does earth sciences as one pathway.
You can speak to my flatmates and more natural sciences students using UniBuddy, and I'd recommend it to get an idea about what Lancaster and the course is like.
I'd be happy to answer any questions about the course, the university or the city.
One of my closest friends is from Newcastle, and the train connections means it takes about 1.5-2hours, and the trains are very regular, making it easy to pop home for a weekend.
Let me know if there's anything I can help you with at all.
Charlotte
