UEA is rated quite high for English and I know someone who does it there and loves it.

What kind of entry requirements are you looking for?
What kind of modules do you want to do?
Hey @the_confused_0ne, like @kass0812, UEA is certainly worth considering! UEA is a top 15 university (12 in the Complete University Guide 2018 and 13 in the The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018).

The School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing is famous for the quality and adventurousness of its teaching. It embraces several interlinked disciplines; for example, you can choose to study drama or creative writing alongside English and related literatures. The English Literature degree programme gives a rigorous grounding in writing from the medieval period to the present day from the Arthurian Tradition via Shakespeare, Milton, Austen, the Brontës, Joyce, to novelists and poets who are still writing now and it combines this with a range of innovative approaches and specialist topics. Find out more about our BA English Literature course here.

UEA is based in Norwich, which has a rich cultural heritage like Bath and York, and is known as the 'fine city' for a reason! Don't just take my word for it though - check out our video below for a taste of student life in Norwich:

Is there anything in particular you're looking for from an English Literature course or from the university itself? For example - modules, nightlife, campus facilities, entry requirements, etc. It's important to consider your priorities when looking for the right degree for you

I studied in the School of Humanities (BA History 2015) at UEA, so happy to share my experience of UEA and answer any questions you might have :h:

I am a third year studying English and Related Literature at the University of York, it does predominately focus on the Literature rather than the Language but York also does offer an English Language degree as part of the Linguistics department so you could do a joint honours between Literature and Linguistics. If you are interested in the Literature side please let me know if you have any questions! I absolutely love it and would recommend to anyone,York is a brilliant uni and a lovely city.

The English and Related Literature website here is really helpful to look at, and here is the page for joint honours Literature and Linguistics.

Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions at all!

I deliberately tried to make my degree and modules as varied as possible so I have studied everything from medieval to modern, I have even studied French Symbolist poetry in the original French but you have such a huge variety on offer at York, HERE is a link to the current degree structure!

If you're interested in 19th/20th Century literature then you can pick a lot of modules that centre around these time periods. York is really cool and they offer different types of modules. If you are interested in the ways literature works in historical settings then you'd love the period modules which do exactly that. You also have special modules which are driven by your tutor's own research so they are incredibly nuanced and interesting and incredibly specific. There are also a bunch of other cool module types.

I love lectures and seminars so much. In 1st year your seminar groups are capped so they are always the right size so there's enough of a variety in opinion but not too many people that someone could slip under the radar. Lectures are very interesting and are often quite specific, and seminars are great! You really get a chance to discuss things and argue, your opinions really do count so you can even challenge the tutor if you disagree with them!

Hope that helps!!
