St Andrews or Durham?

I've recently been so fortunate to receive offers from St Andrews and Durham to study History. I'm having a difficult time trying to decide between the two! My teachers seem to think Durham is the better institution, but I'm not sure how true this is. Opinions please and pros and cons of each? Thank you!
If you are a Scottish student or planning to spend the rest of your life in Scotland, apply to St Andrew's. If you are not, either (i) apply to Durham with the knowledge their history budget is limited but you'll probably have more fun than in St Andrew's, or (ii) wait for exam results and apply for Oxbridge next year (probably more desirable).

Why do you think applying to St Andrews is a good idea if I am planning to spend the rest of my life in Scotland?

As the top-ranked Scottish university it carries more currency - in terms of reputation - in Scotland; thus, potentially adding more marginal benefit to a Scot in terms of career prospects than someone in England.

What did you apply for? I applied CS for both Durham and St Andrews.
