Help for SOP!

So I'm an orphan. Lost my mom 5 years back (when I finished high school) and dad 2 years back (when I finished college).

Despite these events I pushed on in my studies and am working towards my goal. Should I include this in my SOP or not?

I badly want to get in, but I hate sympathy. And I'm scared including these things in my SOP will do just that.

sorry, what does SOP stand for? If your application includes a reference it could be more appropriate to get them to mention your parents rather than you doing so yourself.

Hmm, not my area, but as @claireestelle suggests, do you have to provide a reference? If so explaining/highlighting your circumstances would be best coming from your referee.
