GCSE Maths - Edexcel Higher course book - Exercise 1C - Question 2 (page 10)

Can anyone tell me the best approach to this question:

a - b ÷ c = d

The numbers used are 9, 11, 13, 18

You have to arrange the numbers and add any brackets to make the sentence true.

I have the answer, but if you had this in an exam how would you approach this to get the answer quickly?

I worked out the division first by planting in the numbers which would divide to produce whole numbers. If in the GCSE you don't get a whole number, you know you will have to put brackets in a and b to then divide by c to produce a whole number.
