Maybe I took your first sentence the wrong way. But, agree 100%. Why do you need to put that anyway? Do people who put LLB (Hons) actually continue to study Law or find a career in Law, or do they become a waitress/waiter and put that in their profile to make it 'look' more impressive? hahaha

Is it odd or sad to not have one. I've always worked on and off but never had any full-time job worthy of mentioning so i don't have an account there. even my CV is full of lies and over-exaggerations :frown:

Shouldn't lie on a CV. The employer will find out. Its not hard to build up a good CV. But don't ******** with things like 'open days' hahaha, Placements, work experience or any training in the field you want to go into are worth mentioning.
People who subscribe to the premium membership on there.
Hahahaha, I love Katie King's articles. The comments ripping her apart always make me smile. Full-on QCs taking time out of their day to slate her writing style and correct the law stated in her articles. It makes the insipid articles almost worthwhile reads.

Or 1:1. That always gets a shake of the head.
phew, thats ok then. thanks for letting me know
I think this applies to people from... erm...a certain university...more than others

I wouldn't say other unis don't have it as well but people who go into certain fields like law and ib are usually the types of people who really love showing off how great they are and lse happens to have a lot of these people.

swear down.

One time I had to work in a group at uni with someone I didnt like because he wore blazers all the time and acted above others, so I looked him up typing his name into google to see why he's so "amazing" and found his LinkedIn. He had stuff on there that said he packed M&Ms at some shop and all sorts of ********. And that he was now working at a gym as a "clothing specialist." Meaning, he advises people on which trainers to buy  he got cheeky with me later on so I was ready with my comeback to go stack some trainers.

In amongst all the points made in this thread, it is easy to forget that on the odd occasion LinkedIn can be home to some golden moments.

Like Lord Harley, for example. His profile has since been restricted so it can't be accessed anymore, but here's a taster:

One of the Legal Cheek articles on him has more screenshots of his profile. Feast your eyes...

I’d echo this. I rarely see posts from the LSE guys and even then, only a few self-congratulatory posts from students rather than the bankers and lawyers.

That said, when I was a student it wasn’t the social media platform it is today (otherwise I’m sure I would have committed many of the felons you mentioned!).

I'd also add it's a highly effective/sneaky way of contacting people - we used it to reach out to a lot of founders for a conference. Thanks to InMail, we didn't need to locate their email address and even if we had it, we found they were much more likely to respond.

I don't think any of us here have the professional qualifications to answer that question. The High Court judgment from his appeal when he was struck off by the SRA makes for incredible reading, but I couldn't immediately find it with a quick Google search.

Nice thread.

I cannot cope with the LinkedIn people who post unsolicited motivational stories from their lives, or deep, meaningful truths about life and work that they've thought up.

edit:

Yes, this. This is what I mean.

That and general self-congratulation I find to be in very poor taste. The standard all these years of hard work have paid off because I'm finally doing x post that many people seem to feel the need to make when starting a graduate career triggers me no end.

People who manipulate their job titles just enough to sound way more qualified than they actually are:

Senior Powertrain Gearbox Specialist Lead Engineer - Advanced Apprentice.

General Distribution - Waitrose (You stack shelves bab, calm down)
