Advanced higher french dissertation/specialised study

Hi, I'm studying adv french at a different school and I'm really struggling with my specialised study. My teacher has only given us the book to read and told us to make chapter summaries, she is also going to start extra help after class on a wednesday.
I have no idea how to approach this essay, could someone please breakdown how to write a good dissertation ?
