The police were involved!
They accused the black girl (only black customers in the store at the time) of dining and dashing.
All employees involved were fired - the police officer was stripped off his badge and the store (in the mall) has been shut.
The person who franchised the store has had their license removed (which is a BIG deal).
But did they pay the bill? That doesn't seem to have been answered. Playing a racism accusation seems to be an easy way of getting a free meal.

our accuser remembered that there was a SKINNY girl and a girl who wore MAKEUP,” the woman wrote. “This is a clear example of RACIAL PROFILING

How is being identified as skinny or wearing make-up a clear example of racial profiling? What has either characteristic got to do with race?

I don't really think there's enough evidence to call it racial profiling

sucks to be accused of stealing though if you're innocent

but why was the woman squealing/crying like a pig though? ....that was OTT..........

1. Have you watched the video.

2. Read the full story.

Stop making assumptions.

They have proof that they were never at the store or area the day before (of which they were accused of coming in and stealing).

They had money to pay their bill but they were forced out of the store prematurely and told to "not come back" because a worker said "it looks like them" and called security.
The first black customers in the store were accused of being yesterday's thieves.
They were essentially being banned from a store based on a racially-based assumption.
The poor woman who was accused cried her eyes out on video - she kept saying "I haven't been here" in AAVE. (Vernacular English).
She has top lawyers prosecuting the chain and PROOF she wasn't there on said day.

No of assumptions made in my post: zero.

Number of questions asked in my post: three.
Ahh nice. A hugely relevant thread to a UK audience.

I for one hope the employees at my local Applebee's are less bigoted!

I honestly hate explaining racism to ignorant people.
Read this:
"The first black customers to enter the store were accused of being the thieves from yesterday."
"They were told to pay for the food and leave prematurely"
"The girls felt that the description of a skinny girl with makeup was a cover-up for the racism from the employee"
"The chain has now sacked all the employees involved. The police officer has lost their badge (after thorough investigation) and most importantly, the poor franchisor has lost their license."

Do you get it now?

I had some european girl accuse me of stealing once in hmv

she was giving me dodgy looks from the moment i came upto the changing rooms with a pair of jeans i wanted to try on. It was definitely stereotyping/racial profiling

after i came out i walked up stairs and she followed me holding a cut of paper tag heavily implying i was stealing and had cut it off, she then went and told a guard. i had not stole anything and started arguing with her, i also voluntarily opened up my bag and shoved in her face to prove i never had nothing. she then said in a menacing tone "don't worry i'll get you next time" and started walking away. i called her a stupid woman and walked off.

the next day i walked back into the store and asked for the manager. i didn't get the manager [got someone else] but i made a strong complaint about that girl.

and that was that. No hysterical crying on my part or squealing like a pig. Yes, if she got falsely accused like me, that sucks, but her reaction was way OTT......

You aren't understanding

After shopping, two women went to Applebee’s to eat.
Their server accused them of dining & dashing the night before.
Her manager backed her up and called the police.
The patrons were forced to pay for a meal they weren’t allowed to finish and the meal on which they allegedly dashed the previous night without any evidence but an assumption
The officers involved (#PaulBlart & Co.) were laughing at how upset one of the patrons was.
He was incredibly condescending and dismissive when the girls said that "they hadn't been there (the store)" on the day they were accused in AAVE.

Furthermore! They were told to never come back (banned from the store). Without any evidence.

As a white guy. I understand if you don't get it.
I don't have to explain what racism is to you.
I'm actually sick and tired of explaining race and relations to white people.
But you at least have to be open and accept that the way those girls were treated was wrong.
Even the restaurant admits the actions were wrong and fired all those involved. Even the police officer lost his badge! (Unfortunately temporarily).

I honestly hate explaining racism to ignorant people.
Read this:
"The first black customers to enter the store were accused of being the thieves from yesterday." How is that fact relevant? Would it have been OK if they had been the second party of black people.
"They were told to pay for the food and leave prematurely" And that? That is a consequence of the staff believing them to be the thieves. How does it answer my questions?
"The girls felt that the description of a skinny girl with makeup was a cover-up for the racism from the employee" How is discussion of non-racial identifying features somehow racist?
"The chain has now sacked all the employees involved. The police officer has lost their badge (after thorough investigation) and most importantly, the poor franchisor has lost their license." Those are consequences. In no way do they explain whether the people had eaten and run without paying, or why the identification was racist.

Do you get it now?

So if a white person walks in and the staff say it looks like someone who didn't pay the day before, is that racist? Should they just put their suspicions aside and just not do their job in checking it's not them because the two customers were black?

No one mentioned skin colour anywhere apart from the two customers.

Admittedly enough the police officer handled it horribly but to fire the employees and close down the store is a step too far. If no one mentions skin colour, it's playing the race card.

Also squealing like that is far too ott.

That has nothing to do with the situation.
Follow the whole story.
Read what the victim and applebee's chain have said.
Work out and piece the events together.

There is no point. If you cannot show why that identification was racist then I shall stick to believing it isn't.
Why are people acting like black and white people are treated in society as equal in America of all places.
How could you not see racial profiling when they were the only women accused.
Only black women in the store.
Forced to leave the store and pay the bill from yesterday (that they allegedly stole) and leave their meal prematurely but pay for that one too.
Be escorted out by police.
Have a condescending officer not listen to you when you have proof that you haven't been at the store the day before.

Here's one for you.
No one cares what you think.
You don't have any reverence about what happens to these two women and the store.
Keep thinking it isn't racism because the company itself has admitted the actions that occurred were racist and fired every single employee involved.
Furthermore, the company is willing to go to court for their franchisee's actions and they have removed the franchises license.
