Hello,
I am in the UK and I have suffered from social anxiety for most of my life (I'm 18). Well, when I was at school before I left there was this girl that is three years younger than me so she is 15. I never picked up the courage to go and speak to her. I now think that maybe she is too young for me and I shouldn't try and get her anyway, she's 16 soon I do believe. Well I have her on Instagram and I tended to look at her profile quite a lot a few months back but I never said anything to her as she is underage and I think I should just leave it? I think maybe I should have spoken to her at school or whilst looking at her profile but now worrying that as shes under 16 the police will be coming for me as I did look at her profile quite a few times. I am quite outgoing with friends but shy to strangers. I Would like to know your opinions and just want to get this thought that I've done something illegal out of my head, so let me know.

I feel that you're a bit too paranoid about this. Looking at a profile picture of someone who is under the age of consent is harmless as far as I'm concerned. Think about this analogy; you're on the street and you make eye contact with someone who is under 16. No one can charge you for that.

I understand you're worries as there have been many cases regarding minors, even though the offenders have seemingly done nothing wrong. From what you're saying, you haven't broken the law but I wouldn't DM her or contact her if you don't know her.

If you're not comfortable speaking to strangers why not try someone from your class or a community that you are part of? Personally, I wouldn't worry about finding someone for the sake of having a girlfriend. If you feel there isn't anyone out there for you just yet you're probably right. I would focus on education and pursuing my career if I were you. All in its own time my friend...

Thank you, yes I tend to worry a lot and I get paranoid but yeah just the fact I went on the account a lot worries me now people saying that as long as it’s not pornographic images then it’s fine makes me think her having a picture with a crop top instead of full top worries me too, I am trying to concentrate now and I won’t think unless I find someone I really want. I am just paranoid though right?
