I completely baffled by this maths (pythagoras)

Area of rectangle is (28*4)^2.
Connect centers.
Use Pythogras and calculate the height of the rectangle.

That's wrong.
you get an equilateral triangle with edges 56mm. you need to find the height of the triangle...

- make triangle
- split to make right-angled triangle
- use radii of circles to calculate height of triangle and thus height of rectangle easily and find area
