Why/why not Warwick?

Hi
I have an offer to study Politics at Warwick this September, but I am struggling to decide whether or not to take it. I have offers from two other universities that I am seriously considering too. I was wondering if any other prospective or current students would be able to tell me why/why not I should accept my place!
My main concern is that in years two and three I would need to live in Coventry or Leamington and then commute in, and that sounds like a bit of a drag? Also, both of those locations don't seem to be particularly fun places to live? Are either of these things worth worrying about?
Finally, does anyone have any experience with changing courses once at the university? Since applying for Politics I am slightly worried I might change my mind and want to study History: is this likely to be possible?

So I can't offer you any help regarding the course and changing courses however here is what I can say about the living situation. As you know 1st year accommodation is on campus, your final year accommodation can also be on campus if you wish (which you can apply for during your penultimate year). With regard to the commute you have 2 options really, live next university within walking distance (Canley, Cannon Park and Earlsdon) or live in Leamington and commute in each day (I don't know anyone who actually lives in Coventry Coventry).

I would say Leamington is actually a very nice place to be, plenty of places to eat and go out coupled with the fact that you can walk to most of your friends houses however the downside is it involves a commute in to university. The area around Warwick is convenient, however the downside is a significantly smaller social scene unless your social life mainly revolves around campus societies and activities.

I live about a 10 minute walk from my lectures as I place proximity to the university over the perks of Leamington especially I find if I want to go out it is pretty easy to head to Leamington and crash at a friends for the night plus you can be in central London within 80 minutes if you so wish.

I think fun is what you make of it, you can be surrounded by the most active social scene in the world and be miserable whilst someone else could be ecstatic in the opposite scenario. There will be easily enough opportunities for you to socialise if you decide to go and the fact that Warwick is isolated can give you a very 'Campus' experience of university compared to somewhere like ICL, UCL or LSE.

I personally have enjoyed my time here but I wouldn't wish to spend more than my 4 years here as I am used to much busier environments being from London, but I advise you go to an open day and see if you like it. To be honest if you're not a fan of the campus then I would say it is a bad choice as you will spend a disproportionate amount of time on campus when compared to most universities.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
