Uni accommodation help please

I’m hoping to go to the University of Exeter but would it be better to have catered accommodation or self catered? I’m the first person in my family to want to go to uni and I’m so lost and how do I pay for it I’m just really confused please help

For me, self-catered always wins. I hate the idea of having specific mealtimes and if you miss your slot you'll have to waste money buying food when you've already paid in advance. Also means I have more control over what I eat, and it's generally cheaper than self-catered + groceries.

You can take out a maintenance loan which can be used to contribute towards accommodation fees/living. You are entitled to a basic amount and then anything above that basic amount is based on household income.
