Child support

Hello,

I am writing for advice in regard to my student finance application. I did
not apply for a tuition or maintenance loan last year however, for the next
academic year 2018/2019 I intend on applying for a maintenance loan as an
independent individual.
As I today began the process I was asked a question ‘will you have any
dependants in the next academic year’ to which I answered yes as I am
currently 7 months pregnant and expecting May 2018. This then led to asking
what my childs name and D.O.B was to which I could not proceed as my baby has yet to arrive.. this is because I was also hoping to apply for child
maintenance support.
Could you please inform me whether I can apply for my maintenance loan now
or do I have to wait to complete this along with child maintenance support
when my child is born in May, just the concern I have is will this be too
late? Would it still be possible to receive my loan and maintenance support on time for my course to resume on 3rd September 2018?

Just wondering if anyone has ticked ‘no’ to the question “do you want extra financial help” and was still able to apply after the application was sent?

I would apply for the maintenance loan now and then update your application once the baby is born.

If you apply by May 31st, your application should be sorted on time.
