Help with AS Maths mechanics question

A particle starts with velocity 2 ms^-1 and moves with acceleration a = (2+3t) ms^-2

a) Find an expression for v, the velocity of the particle at time t

b)Find the distance travelled by the particle between t=1 s and t=5 s

Do you know what the equation for acceleration is?

I'm confused as whether to use suvat equations or whether to integrate, as when i do each way the answer i get is slightly different

Oh, I see! I would use suvat :yy:
You have to integrate here as acceleration isnt contant, so you cant use suvat. Integrate then use the fact that at t=0 v=2

Would I have to integrate in both part a and part b or am I missing something here?

Yes, integrating once will give you velocity and if you integrate the velocity you get the displacement.

You can't use SUVAT for these questions since the acceleration is not constant.

Yes you have to integrate the velocity expression you got using the limits given, so integral from 1 to 5
