meiosis and mitosis

Hi guys, can someone please let me know what is going on in both these diagrams for each arrow? Just wanted to check that my understanding of these diagrams is correct:smile:

The cells are already haploid.
I thought that mitosis only occurs in adult body cells
A and C are mitosis. B, D and E and meiosis.

I'm hardly a biologist, so I can't answer that question, but these exam questions are usually written to catch students out.

B is actually meiosis 2. The gametophyte plant are the daughter cells of meiosis 1, which are also haploid. These cells then divide again to form male and female gamete, which are also haploid. Btw ploidy level does not mean the amount of DNA - it's the set of chromosomes. :smile:

Nope, some plants reproduce asexually by mitosis.
