LIVE Oscars Chat Thread

I'll be staying up tonight to watch the Oscars in all their glory - how about you?

I'm just about to make my predictions, have you made yours?

Staying up to watch it too, feeling confident about my predictions but we all the same for a lot of them.

Hollywood is filled with paedophiles. Boycott the oscars if you have a concious left

for those in the UK, how are you planning to watch it? Any websites you know of?

I know you can watch it on Sky/Now TV. You can get free trials to cover it, that's what I've done in the past. It'll also be streamed on YouTube
Daniel Kaluuya gave a great interview there on the red carpet. It isn't ticking boxes, he's right. It's their truth, their lives and experiences
Better be quick making my popcorn!!

Not doing an all nighter to watch this drivel but I'm hoping The Shape of Water wins Best Picture.

From my sources, there's been a late surge of bets on Get Out to win... Would be a big upset if it stole it away from Three Billboards/The Shape Of Water. Watch how Lady Bird somehow wins it though

What would be funny this year is if someone drops the trophy while on stage.

I'm actually really enjoying Jimmy Kimmel. The joes are funny and topical without them sounding preachy or offensive. Really liking it so far!
Nearly lost Viola Davis there on the edge of the stage lol
Loving Vincent was ROBBED smh

Loving Vincent was ROBBED smh

Tbh not surprised Coco won the Pixar Award  But there were more films that were deserving plus Japanese Anime Films always get snubbed other than Miyazaki

What I was excited was Kobe Bryant winning an Oscar  but I'm a basketball fan so you know xD

I wasn't surprised either  Though I think Loving Vincent could have possibly swung it if it was still the case that only animation specialists could vote in that category. I also think that would've ruled out Boss Baby and maybe Ferdinand

Same! I LOVE that a loose, 2D animation like that won an award. 3D tends to dominate awards like this, and after that stop motion often comes in. Traditional animation like that doesn't get much a look in anymore, so from an industry standpoint it was suuuuper exciting. I also love that he won though too

Agreed, animation specialists would have given "Loving Vincent" more of a shot :yep: Boss Baby and Ferdinand getting nominated was a joke :/ like seriously most academy voters just voted based on what their kids liked instead of actually understanding the animation movies. (Though I have to say I thought Coco's win was deserved )

Definitely agree with this as well... Though part of me thinks Dear Basketball won more because of the subject matter than the animation itself  happy for the diversification of recognition in the industry though of the 2D animation art form.

Just waiting on next big awards

Absolutely agree  I did like Coco a lot, I really enjoyed it, but technically it just wasn't as good as it could've been and I think if it was only specialists voting, that would've been reflected. Totally deserved the nomination, but I don't think it necessarily deserved the win (at least on technical merit)

So happy for Jordan Peele! Quite an unexpected win to most, I think, but deserved definitely.

Such a headache from staying up so late I hope I can make it to Best Picture

Well the storyline was pretty damn good haha even if technically wasn't as good as other movies nominated perhaps  though with Boss Baby and Ferdinand... that nominated pool was not the best either.

I wasn't surprised Peele won but was definitely pleased. Omg forgot it was late in the UK... I just woke up to watch the Oscars
