how do you get full marks on guestion 2 language paper 1

Pay attention to what the q asks you. There are 3 points, usually word choice, Lang device and sentence structure. Do it all in PEAL format.
Para 1: lexical choice is a fancy term for word choice, use it. Group together words which convey similar feelings, you could say “the writer uses lexical choice to....[whatever the q asks]...., he uses a plethora of [angry/passionate/idyllic] words to show [link to Q]. This is significant because....[mention reader effect and show this in relation to Q]. Offer an alternate interpretation if you’d like somewhere.

Para 2: there are loads of Lang devices, you’ve just gotta practise them. Keep to the same format as para 1 but mention less common devices like juxtaposition, oxymoron, hyperbole - more impressive than a simile or something.

Para 3: same format. Look at sentences: are the long or short? Short sentences build up tension, used in anger and aggression. Longer sentences are more flowing and calm, however with little punctuation can be interpreted as either panic or excitement. Think about how you read it to yourself. If you can feel what you read get more fast-paced as you go along, mention that the author has used long/short sentences to provoke ___ emotion from the reader. Link back to q in every para.
