Sixth Form Boarding Admission

I applied for a place at some state boarding schools and they've already asked my school for references back in mid January, but the registrar or any admissions member from any school hasn't gotten back. Should I bother sending an email asking about what is happening, or is this common?

Just make an informal enquiry as to when you can expect a decision by. I might wait another few weeks and then that would be 2 months. If you are polite, then they wont mind.
