There are two strains of HSV, the virus that causes cold sores. Most people end up having at least one, typically type 1, and often caught in childhood. It's HSV2. I have had complications with it (aseptic meningitis, difficulty passing urine) and the sores are really painful when I have them. It's been a horrible thing for me and I just can't imagine anyone wanting to sleep with me considering the complications it can have.

Sorry to hear that - you've been unlucky in more than one way. Are you on meds to reduce the frequency?
