Hi,

I've got a BTEC in Electronics Level 2 and an Extended Diploma in Public services level 3, I was told that the latter is equivelant to 3 A Levels, is this correct?

Level 3 is equivalent to 3 A-levels.

Hence the 3 grades you get but the level 2 is worth 2 A-levels.

Level 2 = GCSE
Level 3 = A level

The Extended Diploma at Level 3 is worth 3 A levels

Sorry but this is rubbish. Level 2 qualifications are considered to be of the same a level as GCSEs and Level 3 qualifications are the same level as AS and A levels.

If you have a Level 3 BTEC National then the names that describe the different sizes have changed a couple of times over the past 10 years and an NQF Diploma was the same size as 3 A levels but a QCF diploma is only the same size as 2 A levels so it can be confusing. However, if it is a QCF Extended Diploma then it is the same size as 3 A levels.
