NI Number

I am a british born expat who has applied for finance, I dont have NI number as i was not in England at 16 but in France. i am worried that it will stop my loan application.

Hi acanthamoon,

You can be confident that your application will still process without the National Insurance number although we cannot make payments to you until we have it.

Once your application for Student Finance has been fully assessed and approved, we will send your details to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) for validation.

If you do not have a National Insurance number the Job Centre Plus (JCP) will be informed by the DWP, who will contact you to arrange an appointment to obtain a National Insurance number.
